Google Camera app vs. stock G5 camera app -- share your results!
Hello everyone, I've just come from this thread on /r/android. At the link in the OP, you can download an .apk for a version of the Google Camera app, optimized for Snapdragon 820 chips (what the LG G5 uses).
No functionality for the wide-angle lens, of course. But I'm very satisfied with the results for the regular camera. Great image quality in my opinion. My only complaint is that the time between pressing the snap button, and the processing being complete, is slightly longer than with the LG G5's stock camera app. However, Google Camera felt a lot easier to use, so that balances out the time, I think.
I did not, however, compare the Manual mode on the G5 with the Google Camera app. If I had truly taken the time to tinker with that, I could probably get a picture as good as (if not better) than that taken with the Google Camera app. However, I do like the Google Camera app's ease of use. I can easily snap a high-quality image in a very small amount of time.

I'm not active on XDA, nor am I a developer of any sort, but someone there ported the V10's camera to the G4, and subsequently it worked well on the G5.
Now that our G5 will be on Android 7.x, does anyone know if there's any headway being made about possibly porting the V20's camera to the G5? I'd really hope so, considering (iirc) the guy who did the V10 .apk port said it's for 6.x only and has no plans to port it further (or backwards).
