I've seen quite a few posts about the server recently and I became curious and started looking into it. It has a reputation for being much, much more F2P friendly (example 80 gems for a hero roll vs 150 for IGG). It took me about an hour total time between last night and today to actually get it to work. Again, thank you to CC Offender.
The Tencent server is not managed by IGG. It's run by the company Tencent. In order to use the server you must download WeChat and create an account. Afterwards you can download (Android link;credit to CC Offender, link also in his video description) the game and create an account by selecting the option on the left once the game starts. This will automatically use your WeChat account and you'll be good to go. You'll be prompted to change your phone settings to allow the game to install because it's not a Google Play program. Do this at your own risk.

In addition to making hero rolls far cheaper, they have a few custom heroes, which CC Offender goes into detail about in his video.
At least three custom heroes are buyable with shards; one elite and two legendary.
The number of gems you get free daily. In the hour or so I've played I've gotten enough gems for 8 hero rolls.
They have a system that I've seen on a few other mobile games where you touch an icon and a countdown begins, and you claim gems after the countdown ends. Each time you do this the timer increases, but the gem reward also gets larger. First time is a five minute wait for five gems, second is a fifteen minute wait, third is a half hour wait for 20 gems, fourth is 45 minutes for 25 gems, fifth is an hour for 30 gems. I don't know how high this goes. I've been doing schoolwork and I've just left the game open to continue getting gems out of curiosity. I assume it keeps increasing by increments of 5 gems. EDIT: system doesn't reset daily. I don't know if/when it resets.
Custom achievement system, although the rewards for me thus far have mostly been small amounts of resources (gold/mana/HB/gems).
Third builder costs 250 gems, and I assume the next two would be 500/1000 each instead of 1000/2000 each the way they are for IGG.
Buildings upgrade much more quickly. For example, gold mine level 1>2 is 5 seconds, 2>3 is 30 seconds, 3>4 is 2 minutes.
There is a free reward you can claim from the warehouse each day, which is a modded sort of mesa chest. I got 5 low level shard packs (10 shards ea) from mine. I don't know yet whether this is the reward every time or what. Either way, it's great to get starting off in case you want to buy an engineer for low level HBM, or buy extra slimes or whatever. EDIT: Got a mana pack (10k mana) from my second one, so rewards will vary.
The obvious downside will be that the only available language for this game is Chinese. However, this shouldn't be much of an issue if you're familiar with navigation from the regular game. All of the gameplay 'controls' are exactly the same as the IGG version. The only other disadvantage I saw was that TG costs 8800 shards (wtf?) and GR/Immo aren't shard buyable. I don't know if shard amounts from HBM are the same yet. If this thread gets a decent amount of interest I'll update as I learn more. I've also heard somebody say that they got like 400 bonus gems for completing HBM D.

Bottom line, if you haven't invested a lot of time or money into Castle Clash, or if you just have shit luck, OR if you're curious, you might want to try this version out.

Since I've gotten a few upvotes I'll add a few more things. HBM appears to be significantly easier. I reached 1k might and tried A (no chance of beating it with the heroes I'm working with) and somehow made it to A-4 without even setting up a base and using Pally/Eng/Executioner level 15ish. The heroes start at level 1s for wave 1, whereas I believe in IGG wave 1 they're level 5s.
Tomorrow hopefully I'll get 800 gems via different login awards and achievements. I want to see if you're guaranteed a legendary hero from the 800 gem chests you can buy in the warehouse. If somebody happens to already know, please let me know... Otherwise I'll continue to be the guinea pig :) - Update: 800 gem chest is just a 10x of the regular chest. Not worth the buy.
Unfortunately, twice so far (out of 15ish times) when I've tried to exit the game, it's frozen and the only way to unfreeze has been to pop the phone battery out, which is a major inconvenience, especially if you have a Otter Box like I do.
